Inspection Process

Every game we sell is individually inspected before it is listed for sale. Because retro games vary in condition, age, and originality, we take a hands-on approach to make sure each item is authentic, functional, and accurately described.

Authenticity Check

We inspect each game for signs of originality and compare it against known authentic cartridge characteristics. Depending on the title and platform, this may include reviewing label quality, shell details, board markings, screws, casing, and overall construction.

If we are unable to confidently verify that a game is authentic, we do not list it as authentic.

Physical Condition Review

Each game is checked for visible wear and overall condition. We review the cartridge shell, front and back labels, connector pins, and any included materials to document notable cosmetic issues such as discoloration, label wear, writing, sticker residue, cracks, or other signs of age and use.

Cleaning & Preparation

When appropriate, cartridges are lightly cleaned before testing and listing. This may include basic exterior cleaning and contact cleaning to improve readability and performance. We do not perform aggressive restoration that could damage original materials.

Function Testing

Every game is tested before sale to confirm that it loads and functions as expected. Testing may include startup verification, gameplay checks, save testing when applicable, and confirming basic operation on compatible hardware.

For games with save batteries or time-based features, we note the battery status when known. Battery-backed save functionality can vary by title, and any relevant details will be included in the product listing whenever possible.

Condition & Listing Accuracy

After inspection and testing, we record the game’s condition, completeness, and any important notes directly in the product listing. We aim to describe each item as clearly and accurately as possible so customers know what to expect before purchase.
